The Camino de Santiago (also known as The Way of St. James) consists of a number of pilgrimage routes across Europe that have been journeyed for over 1000 years, culminating at the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.  In fact, tradition has it that pilgrims would begin their walk from their own front door, complete their pilgrimage to Santiago, and then walk back to their home.  The most popular route is the Camino Frances, followed by the Camino Portuguese.  The link below will take you to the American Pilgrims web page detailing much helpful information about the Camino, its history, various routes, statistics, and other useful information.
