Central Coast Pilgrims

Central Coast Chapter of the American Pilgrims on the Camino

UPDATES AND UPCOMING EVENTS

Thursday, November 27th, 2025:  Join your fellow pilgrims as we support the SLO Food Bank’s annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning.  We will meet at the Pismo Pier at 8:00am to be ready for the 8:30am start time.  Please see the Food Bank website at: Turkey Trot for Hunger Relief in San Luis Obispo | SLO Food Bank   for more info and to support this worthy local event.

Friday, December 5th, 2025:  Help us connect with past and future pilgrims by joining us as we walk and spread our cheer again in the 49th Annual SLO Holiday Parade through downtown SLO.  We will meet up before for a tailgate dinner at 5:00pm at the Merrill Lynch parking lot at 1020 Marsh St.  Please email us if you want to join so we can get enough food!

Saturday, January 10th, 2026:  We are skipping the first Saturday due to the New Year’s holiday, so meeting the SECOND Saturday, January 10th for our regular monthly meeting. We will start at 9:30am as usual with coffee & donuts, followed by a presentation on the final 2025 Camino Statistics from the Pilgrim Office in Santiago. (Note that as of this writing, more pilgrims have already received compostelas than in all of 2024, so we already know 2025 is another record year for the Camino!) About 10:30am we will depart for our beach walk down to Oceano and back. Those who wish can join us for lunch at Old Juan’s in Oceano, with earlier turnarounds available for those looking for a shorter walk.

Monday, January 25th, 2026:  Mark your calendars for a very special evening with nationally renowned authors and speakers Sandy Brown and Dave Whitson. The topic of their presentation is: “The Camino de Santiago and the Resurgence of Pilgrimage”.  More info to follow.

Welcome to the home page of Central Coast Pilgrims!

Our mission is to support pilgrims and pilgrimage for those living in the central coast area of California.  We are a volunteer organization that offers advice, encouragement, fellowship, and community to all who might be interested in pilgrimage, and the many people who have already made a pilgrimage.  We are passionate about the Camino de Santiago, pilgrimage, and walking. We love sharing our experiences with our local community and beyond.

We meet the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 800 Bello Street in Pismo Beach. We gather for fellowship, coffee and donuts until about 10:00 a.m., followed by a Camino-related presentation, start our walk around 10:30 a.m. for about an hour or so, enjoy lunch, and then walk back to St. Paul’s afterwards. Several past participants have told us that these walks "are almost like being back on the Camino", sharing steps, conversation, beautiful scenery and a meal with fellow pilgrims. Please also check our “Upcoming Events” section above for more details, as occasionally this schedule changes.
